Cosmetic issues with your teeth can cause you to feel less confident when you smile, and may even be causing you discomfort. These issues can include staining, cracked teeth, spacing issues, misaligned teeth, and chipped teeth, among others.
On their own, any one of these problems can be simply frustrating, but on a larger scale or when multiple conditions compound on each other, they can be incredibly detrimental, both mentally and physically. This is where dental veneers come in!
Dental veneers are an excellent way to redesign and reshape your entire mouth. They consist of a very thin shell that covers your existing tooth structure to provide additional support and a new, cleaner look. This permanently-bonded shell is made of strong ceramic designed to positively change your teeth’s color and shape, and to last you a lifetime of smiling.
The Process of Getting Dental Veneers
The process of placing dental veneers is relatively simple. It’s done in-office and requires two or three visits, depending on the amount of work being done.
In the first visit, you’ll meet with Dr. Maha Bishara for an assessment. She’ll take a look at your teeth and discuss the issues she sees and your concerns. Then, you’ll discuss the new shape and look of what we are going to accomplish by placing the veneers. She’ll give you an overview of the process and help you to determine how to proceed.
Once we have put a plan in place, it’s time for the second visit! During this second visit, we will carefully prepare the teeth for the placement of the new veneers. This is done by gently grinding and reshaping the teeth into a good base.
When this is done, the next step is to take an impression of the newly prepared teeth using a soft molding material. It’s a similar process to being fitted for a crown or similar reconstructive measure, but less intrusive. You’ll be given a beautiful temporary solution while we create your custom-fit dental veneers.
This impression will be sent to our laboratory for the final product to be fabricated. Of course, we only utilize the highest standard of laboratory work and material for the fabrication of all of our work, and are careful to ensure a strong and steady finished product. Because of our rigorous standards, this process takes between 10 and 14 days to complete.
During your third and final visit to our office, we’ll place your veneers. As the veneers are finalized, we will make every effort to make sure that your new veneers will feel just like your natural teeth. We’re careful to place them correctly, adjusting as necessary for a comfortable fit before bonding them into place. This bonding ensures that you can enjoy your new smile for a very long time!
